You point to the blue-eyebrowed alien and say, "He gets my leg."
The doctor nods, seemingly approving of your choice. Then you're rushed into the operating room where he removes your leg faster than you can say "What's the laser for?"
A few minutes later, you hobble out of the room on a shiny new robotic leg. Well, maybe not new. You do notice a bit of rust on it. And is that magic marker? Does it say, 'Get well, Zarlax?'
Anyway, the doctor attaches your former leg to the alien general, and after he's done the leg morphs and grows to match the alien's natural biology.
"Amazing!" you say. "Will my leg grow back, too?"
The doctor furrows his brow. "That's physically impossible. Are all humans as stupid as you are?"
You choose to ignore the barb. While the doctor is fixing the spiky-chin alien with a mechanical leg like yours, the blue-browed one walks over to you. He seems to be getting used to having a new leg.
"Thank you, kind stranger," he says. "Now that I have this leg, and I have the advantage over my enemy..." He looks over his shoulder at the other general still laying on the table. "I can insist on the peace treaty between our people. He knows I am stronger, so he wouldn't dare defy me now." The alien pats you on the shoulder and walks away.
Both aliens are brought into a conference room with snacks and refreshments, and a peace is brokered between the two races. You are presented with a medal of "Doing Your Job" and given an extra donut as a reward. You are also invited to stay aboard the Spacekalm HQ so that you can help out in future situations, too.
The metal leg is unusual and takes a while to get used to, but you find it has its advantages. Everyone knows when you're coming down the hall, for instance. You miss home sometimes, but you realize that your dream of making a difference and being special has been realized here in space.
You just wonder how many different kinds of replacement parts they're going to be able to make...
